Halal, the billion dollar industry?

All sorts of articles, podcasts and videos pop up in Cert ID Europe's inbox, but one particularly interesting and very insightful article we found today was from the Guardian, discussing Halal not just as religious observance, but as a global brand. Cert ID may have discussed this previously, but Halal within the news has cropped up more and more recently, therefore showing the increase in demand for Halal products in the market.

As the article suggests, Halal is not just limited to meat and certain butchers shops. The Halal market has branched into the likes of Halal toothpaste, beer, cosmetics and even bacon (not entirely sure what is in the latter...). With the rise in consumer products in the Halal market comes the rise in business opportunities for many food and drink manufacturers, who arguably can't afford to ignore the Halal arena. There is a growing Muslim presence in the West, and as the Guardian article suggests, there is also a rise in the middle class in Muslim countries which estimates a £billion market in Halal goods and products.

So there you have it. Halal. A great business opportunity, and quite frankly a demand and a market which will just keep on rising. Talk to Cert ID if you want to know more.
