Sustainability - On Good Terms

Cert ID Europe, in the press, all for sustainability. The recent article in Food Manufacture talks about what exactly is sustainability, and how do we make it a reality? The article references the increase in sustainability, and how it is becoming an active business choice as well as a consumer choice.

Cert ID Europe are mentioned in the article, all because of our ProTerra Sustainability Standard. Cert ID are discussed in relation to ProTerra standard but how it has come about due to Non-GMO soy. Issues of environmental and social impacts are now becoming increasingly important within the food industry and overall the article discusses how these impacts and issues cannot be ignored. Have a look to find out all the details.

Sustainable Clients

There is nothing more that Cert ID Europe like to see than our clients in the press for good news. The client of the week is Ardo UK, who have appeared in The Grocer for cutting down on their electricity prices. The news may not be quite food related, but their cutting down on lighting goes in line with Cert ID's ProTerra sustainable standard (in a way...) Less omissions in the Earth, more sustainable, you know the rest. So let's have it for Ardo and their news!

Grab your coat. It's cold...

Cert ID Europe and FoodChain Europe are all safely back in the office after many a holiday. We've seen the likes of Devon, Eastern Europe, Greek Islands and the south of France this summer, but after topping up those tans and expanding those waist lines, we are back in the office. But don't let that put us down as Christmas is soon around the corner...

Well kind of. It will come round sooner than you think and we'll be celebrating with Cert ID Non-GMO novelty chocolate, BRC brussel sprouts, Halal honey, ProTerra sustainable stuffing and ISO 22000 Indian food (because you can't be bothered to cook). We'll keep you updated no doubt on the run up to Christmas with what food we have in the office.

So there you have it. Bye bye Summer, bye tanning, bye sangria and bye sunglasses. But hello Christmas, hello warm winter coats and hello lots of mulled wine.

Risky?

Cert ID Europe have appeared in the press this week, exciting! We are pleased to announce that we are mentioned in Food Manufacturer for our Global food sourcing, but also explaining how this can often be a risky business to enter in to.

The article discusses how global sourcing can come with many issues, whether this ranges in our BRC certification, our Non-GMO certification, our Halal certification or our ProTerra certification. When sourcing business from the other side of the globe we may be confronted with counterfeit documents, old protocols and unheard of systems. However, this isn't always the case! Cert ID Europe have many successful clients all over the world, which have top standard systems and procedures to adhere to the many certification schemes we one.

But it isn't all easy and happy. Take a look at the article for more information.

Over and out for the weekend

The sun has got it's hat on, and we're praying it will stay that way.

On the agenda for the day is firstly our course discount. We are pushing a discount for the BRC transition course in London on the 19th of July, if you book by 4pm on the 5th July 2012 you get 25% off! What more could you want?! For more details talk to Cheryl, she'll give you all the info.

Further on the agenda, Cert ID are looking forward to T in the Park festival this weekend, well, one of us is. Not sure if the food there will exactly be BRC certified but we'll see what we can dig up. But on a more positive note camping in a field is quite 'green' which fits well with our ProTerra Sustainailbity Standard...

Furthermore, Billy has moved from the certification department back to sales this week, and he couldn't be happier...(as you can tell it's a slow news day)

Soy - assessing the future

New week, new article.

Cert ID Europe appear in Global Meat News this week in relation to GM soy and the problems it faces throughout Southern America. The article links greatly to Cert ID's ProTerra Scheme, which displays corporate social responsibility. There is no need for us to tell you what the article is about, click on the article and have a read for yourself.

Sustainable Sourcing

Sustainability is not only the buzz word for the ProTerra Foundation, but it seems to also be the buzz word in the press as well!

A recent article in the
Food Navigator talks about sustainable food becoming a new hit in the food industry! The article discusses how organic consumers are now looking into sustainable foods, especially since current economic difficulties have taken place. Sustainable food falls in line with the same values and understandings of organic foods in terms of its ethical and social values.

Sustainability certainly is becoming more apparent and more of a growing issue in the food industry, leading food and drink manufactures alike to start thinking about where their food comes from and if sustainable sourcing can take place. Cert ID Europe have noticed a vast growth in sustainable food and sustainable certification enquirers linking to our ProTerra Scheme. Hear our MD's opinions in the article below.

Sustainable Success!

Tuesday the 24th of April 2012 saw the first, of hopefully many, ProTerra Conferences for the ProTerra Foundation. To say the day was a success certainly is an understatement!

Cert ID Europe were proud to be sponsoring the ProTerra Conference, which dealt with the likes of 'Sustainability in the Soy Supply Chain'. A topic which sprouted a lot of debate, and some great insights! The day saw some fantastic presentations, knowledgeable speakers and vigorous debates. Ranging from companies such as Alpro, Cefetra, Politicians and journalists, the views and ideas surrounding the day defiantly opened up minds regarding sustainability in the soy industry.

A
further bonus also throughout the day was the fantastic location of the conference, which was held at the Natural History Museum in London! A great location, fantastic staff, and some fairly nice cakes...

Sustainable Summer

At Cert ID Europe we're feeling like proud mothers in the office over these past few months as more and more of our clients are getting great mentions in the press.

Cert ID Europe are very proud of this recent article in the Food Navigator this week. Our long standing Non-GMO and BRC client (soon to get a special Cert ID 5 year pen), Thew Arnott are the first UK suppliers of Non-GMO soy lecithin to get ProTerra backing on their sustainable sourcing, therefore worth a mention in the press we argue!

Thew Arnott have been with
Cert ID Europe for a fair few years in regards to Cert ID Non-GMO Certification . They are one of a select few UK suppliers of Non-GMO soy lecithin, but their ethos like many other companies on Cert ID's books are proving that companies such as themselves are revealing the increased demand for Non-GMO soy in the UK.

The ProTerra scheme for Thew Arnott is a natural extenstion of their Cert ID Non-GMO Certification because it assures their product is not only non-gmo but that it has derived from sustainable and ethical sourcing!

Cert ID Europe are hoping that this really will be a sustainable summer for all.

give me a PRO! give me a TERRA!

Cert ID Europe are receiving more and more enquirers regarding our new and upcoming standard, the ProTerra Standard run by the ProTerra Foundation, generally asking, "well what's it all about?"

"the ProTerra Foundation claims that the growth in genetically modified crops is not only a risk to food safety and food security, but causes a devastating impact on the welfare and lives of farmers and rural communities in countries such as Brazil and Argentina, from where millions of tonnes of soy meal, soy beans and soy oil are imported into the EU every year ."
(
article from AllAboutFeed)

At
Cert ID we value the sustainable growth of farmers and rural communities, especially those in countries such as Brazil and Argentina, where the living conditions are not always suitable.

ProTerra runs alongside
Cert ID's Non-GMO Certification, as it plays an equal part in certificating the use of non-gmo soy and makes sure that the production is ethical and sustainable.

But we're making sure its not all just going on in Brazil and Argentina for example!

On the 24th of April Cert ID are sponsoring the first ProTerra Foundation Conference in London. We've got some great speakers and sponsors at the event, and we really think it will be an event to show your face and to get to grips with ProTerra!

We're pro ProTerra

According to our latest scheme (the ProTerra scheme) the latest buzzword is sustainability.

How many times can you fit that into a conversation in one day?
Pretty easy for a Certification Body but might as well make it a challenge anyway.
