The Great British Bake Off

Everyone knows Cert ID and FoodChain love food. We eat it, we certify it, we give consultancy advice over it and we even help train you up on all the important parts you need to know.

Today though it's our turn to get baking in the kitchen, three lovely employees at Cert ID have been busy grafting away in the glorious sunshine to produce some scrumptious cakes for everyone to enjoy!... Of course there is only one very good reason for all of this and that is 'The Great British Bake off' all in aid of charity.

Cert ID and FoodChain are still working very hard to reach our target for Birmingham Children's Hospital to support young children like Poppy Guilder. Why not find out more about Poppy on our Just Giving page and any donations would be kindly received!

Of course we can't complete the blog without giving you all a sneak peak of these homemade cakes

Doing our bit for charity

Cert ID and FoodChain have definitely not forgotten about all you lovely people have kindly donated your spare change for Birmingham Children's Hospital! Thanks to all of you we have actually reached 50% of are our target (now that does deserve some chocolate)

We are pleased to be able to say that Cert ID and FoodChain will be taking the 'leap over the edge' this September by abseiling down The Mailbox in the heart of Birmingham City Centre. Friends, family and colleagues are all welcome to come along to support everybody who is taking part.

So all this is mind, we have just 4 months to reach our target and we're already half way there! Of course we couldn't do it without all of you so please click the link below to follow our story and instead of buying that extra bottle of wine this week or that big bar of chocolate why not kindly donate it to a worthy charity? (you can always munch on an apple instead and drink a bottle of water)

This isn't just about supporting Birmingham Children's Hospital but it's for a special little girl called Poppy Guilder who has been through an amazing amount from just 14 months old and she has done it all with a smile on her face! Now that is worth raising money for.

It's all for Charity

As a lot of you may know last year Cert ID Europe and Foodchain Europe put their heads together to come up with ideas on how to raise money for a very special charity! .. We've sold cakes, dressed stupidly, nagged our friends and families and even said we'd do a Shark Dive.

I'm pleased to say with the help of our friends, families, clients, auditors and each other we have managed to raise a lot of money so far.. The time has now come for the big event, and we are no longer doing a shark dive BUT abseiling down a very tall building in the heart of Birmingham! Birmigham Childrens Hospital have very kindly offered to arrange this for us and the dates will be confimed by Mid-February! the hearts are already racing and the palms are sweating but we know it will be a lot of fun and definitely worth it for the charity.

Watch this space! Dates will be confirmed shortly.

So i just want to say a massive thank you for everyone who helped out and its not too late to give your donations;

Or the lemon shark?

Or even the sting rays?!

Roll up roll up, the Cert ID BRC Conference!

Tuesday the 16th of October was a great day for Cert ID Europe and FoodChain Europe, and maybe a date to go down in history? Yesterday saw the first of hopefully many Cert ID BRC Conferences!

The Cert ID BRC Conference was held at the Crown Plaza in Birmingham, with an array of different exhibitors and clients from Cert ID's client portfolio. The event was held exclusively for Cert ID BRC clients, and quite frankly we couldn't be happier with the results! The day highlighted some important points from the BRC themselves  some great insights from members of the Cert ID team, an auditors insight from a Cert ID auditor and also some excellent labeling and regulations information from FoodChain Europe.

The event had a fantastic turn out from both exhibitors and delegates, and an also better result with the Cert ID charity! Of course we try and plug the fact that we are diving with sharks and raising money for Birmingham Children's Hospital at any event (after all it is all for charity...) therefore we posted our baby pictures up and allowed our clients to have a guess. We raised over £50 on the baby picture game alone which is fantastic news and a great achievement!

So what else is there to say? Great client feedback, great turn out, great donations for the charity, so overall a great day for Cert ID and FoodChain!

Say Cheese!

As most people know here at Cert ID Europe and FoodChain Europe we are trying to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital to help young children like Poppy Fields, so with thanks to Rebecca Wood our Sales Executive we have a new idea on how we can raise money for the charity and it would be great if everyone can get involved!

We are willing to swallow our pride, throw our reputation away and bring in a baby photo of ourselves! … Pay £1.00 and match the photo to one of us at Cert ID and FoodChain, and for those who answer correctly will win a prize.

So what have you got to lose? Pay £1 and it goes to charity, have fun at the same time AND you're even in with a shot of winning a prize.

Keep your eyes out as the photos will be heading your way very soon!

Lets Do The Time Warp Again!!

Cert ID Europe and FoodChain Europe do like to plan ahead! Today we're arranging our spook fest for Halloween  We plan to dress as ghosts, vampires, black cats or the dreaded BRC auditor... all of this is for a good cause though and it shall be raising money for our charity this year. As you may well know we are diving with sharks this year to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital, and on the way we are also doing little charitable activities to help raise awareness as well.

So are you brave enough to join in? Visit our Just Giving page if you are.

Friday Feeling

Well as a lot of you are already know here at Cert ID Europe and Foodchain  Europe we are aiming to raise as much money as possible for a worthy charity close to our hearts.  To help out we decided that every Friday was going to be ‘dress down Fridays’ whether we come in our pajamas and slippers, tracksuit bottoms and trainers or just simply our favourite pair of jeans, we just make sure we don’t come in a work suit or trousers! By doing this every week at £1 per person we have helped raise £63.. so far! We've had fun along away with our sports theme fancy dress and our cake baking but we've still got a long way to go.

Please do your bit for charity, visit our Just Giving page and take a look, we are always open to more ideas on how we can raise money?!

It’s all for Charity!

If you’d like to help us raise money for charity, maybe just do your bit and simply see Cert ID and FoodChain get eaten by sharks! To help us out please click on the link below and kindly donate any spare pennies you may have for such a worthy cause – Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Whether it is 1p or £10, it really doesn't matter as any amount can make a difference.

Autumn this year we at Cert ID and FoodChain, all plan to get into our diving gear and jump into that tank but only if we can hit our target, so please help us out because we believe that diving into a tank of sharks is nothing like what little Poppy Guilder has had to go through for 8 years of her life! And the rest of the little boy and girls who have been overcome with some of these difficulties throughout their lives.

Visit our Just Giving page and have a read of Poppy’s brave and encouraging story!

Lets Get Physical

At Cert ID Europe we argue we're one of the most fun certification bodies. That may be just our opinion but due to our charitable en-devours these past few months, we can see we're up for a laugh and we're always thinking of fun, creative ways to raise money for our charity of Birmingham Children's Hospital! This week we've taken to the Olympics and decided to do a sports day fancy dress in the office. Not all of us decided to join in...but the majority in on the day did! Whether we were badminton players, Olympic skippers or just general runners, we still joined in on the sporting spirit and dressed like an athlete for the day. Even Billy managed to join in, therefore showing the great team spirit we have!

Fancy supporting our team spirit and charitable cause? Then visit our Just Giving Page. All donations are greatly appreciated!

Let them eat cake

Cert ID Europe and FoodChain Europe are proud to say the great Bake Sale was a huge success! Last Friday Cert ID and FoodChain slaved over the stove and mixers to create some fantastic cakes, flapjacks, bakewell slices and many more delicious treats! We were selling all day Friday to the wonderful offices and businesses around the Middleton House Farm and overall we raised a brilliant £92.80!

We would like to thank everyone who took part, everyone who baked but most of all everyone who bought and ate! All of the sales will go straight to Birmingham Children's Hospital, and will also add to the money we raise for our charity shark dive. If you would like to help our cause just visit our Just Giving page. There will be more bake sales to come so don't worry if you think you've missed out.

Who took the cookie from the cookie jar?

New business on the day of the Great Cert ID and FoodChain Bake Sale, well it is new cake business! It's only appropriate to match the new business to the topic of the day, as we like to see trends happening at Cert ID Europe. We're cake overload today in the office, and even though Smart Cookie Bakeries are bringing their new business and their great sweet products to the table, we may have to just say no to an extra piece of cake for the time being (well, until Monday when we'll be hungry again). So there you have it, new business with a great cake manufacturer, and a Great Bake Sale in the office.

Jingle Jingle

That's the sound we hope our charity boxes will be making soon. The lovely team at Birmingham Children's Hospital have sent Cert ID and FoodChain a few charity boxes to help us reach our target! So far the pennies may only be slowly coming in, but at least the boxes aren't empty. You can help fill them up by coming to our charity bake sale on Friday the 17th at Courtyard Barn. On the agenda we have bakewell slices, flapjack, muffins and caramel shortcake. So pop on down, get fat, and put a penny or two in the box.

Great Cert ID Bake Off!

The Great British Back Off starts again tonight for series 3 of the show! Cert ID and FoodChain are joining in with all things baking this Friday, maybe to see if we can do better than the contestants on tonight's show. Got any suggestions? Got any recipes you want conjuring up? Have a word with Cert ID and FoodChain and we'll see what we can do. So far flapjack and cupcakes are on the list for our charity bake sale this coming Friday, but we're ready for a challenge. So email us with your suggestions and we'll see what we can bake.

Dress Down Fridays, what's the verdict?

Well the last Dress Down Friday went down a treat! We're afraid there are no pictures but Cert ID and FoodChain can ensure no pajamas or fancy dress pieces were present, however we have many dress down Fridays to come so the fancy dress may be out!

Cert ID and FoodChain are dressing down on a Friday to help raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital in the build up to our final charity event of the Shark Dive! We're risking our limbs and our nerves to help raise money for a great cause, so why not help us out? Visit our Just Giving page to donate, or pop on by on a Friday, pay your £1 and dress down like the rest of us.

Dress Down Friday

Cert ID Europe and Foodchain Europe have jumped on the corporate bandwagon and have taken on 'Dress Down Fridays' however, our dress down Fridays are all carried out to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital in line with our charity shark dive!

We pay our £1 and wear what we want for the day. Whether this be jeans and a jumper, or some pajamas. Not that anyone has being that daring yet but it's only the first dress down Friday. Even Billy has joined in, therefore showing how it's a whole company effort!

Not really sure what look Billy is going for but at least he's getting involved. Get involved as well, by dressing how you want for a day or simple by sponsoring our charitable events on our Just Giving Page.

Taking the Plunge

Cert ID Europe and FoodChainEurope visited Birmingham Children’s Hospital this week to see where and how our donations would be put to a great cause. Cert ID and FoodChain have decided to raise money specifically for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital cancer ward. At the moment two wards are dedicated to this cause, the first for 12-16 year olds which is a new ward, with new equipment, and secondly another ward for new borns to 11 year olds. This ward is quite cramped in a rundown building with quite outdated surrounding, which is why Cert ID and FoodChain have decided to focus our sponsorship on this particular great cause.

Cert ID and FoodChain are taking part in a number of different charitable activities leading up to our shark dive in the autumn of this year. For example, we are kicking off our sponsorship and charitable season with a dress down Friday ever Friday. Pay £1 and dress how you like we say! Furthermore, we have an Olympic/sport themed fancy dress day on the 2nd of August, as well as some great bake sales which will be coming up in the next few weeks.

Want to get involved or help out?

Well if you really wanted to you could visit Cert ID and FoodChain when we have our bake sale and feast on cakes, cookies and flapjack! Or pop on down on a Friday to dress how you like? Or even better, help Cert ID and FoodChain out by sponsoring at our Just Giving page (http://www.justgiving.co.uk/certideurope2012), our efforts are all leading up to our shark dive in September, therefore every penny up to the shark dive counts, and every penny will go to Birmingham Children’sHospital and their cancer ward.

Many thanks if you have already donated, it is a great help and all for a great cause!
