Wrap up warm and attend our cosy courses!

Well that went quick! The year certainly has gone quick and at Cert ID Europe we can't believe it's October already! Where has the year gone?

The nights are growing dark, and it's safe to say we dug out our winter coats a fair few weeks ago, but don't let that put a downer on Cert ID's day! We won't be closing up shop anytime soon, instead we plan to put on more heating and create a cosy environment for colleagues and clients alike, which brings us today to discuss our exciting courses we've got going for October 2012.

We aren't ones to be boring and keep the same course going all month, which means this month we have four different training days for food and drink manufacturers throughout the UK:

This course is perfect for all those food and drink manufactures who have to audit their suppliers. The one day practical course gives you the confidence you need to easily audit your suppliers, and equips you with the tools and knowledge to carry out audits successfully.

Labels are at the forefront of food and drink these days (literally) therefore companies can't afford to get them wrong. The one day course is run by on of FoodChain's experts Stuart Shotton who knows more than a thing or two about labelling!

HACCP can seem a complicated subject to tackle within the food industry. Even if you have been looking at HACCP for years it is always useful to have an update on what to do. Cert ID's HACCP training course is a great, practical one day course for both employees who have been dealing with HACCP for many years, as well as the newbies to the team. It provides a great update as well as some great practical workshops.

Internal auditing is one of Cert ID's most popular training courses, and we're not surprised why. The one day course allows different members of the food and drink industry to come together and develop their knowledge on how to audit their team. The course allows practical activities to take place which really enables the auditing knowledge of the team to grow!

Interested in any or all of the above courses? Contact Cheryl either by email or phone +44 (0) 1675 475607, she'll tell you all the info and be able to book you a place!

Stephen, what's he all about...

NEW BRC EXPERT JOINS CERT ID EUROPE

Cert ID Europe, the food industry’s fastest growing independent certification body has appointed former food technical manager and BRC expert, Stephen Kolek as Senior Technologist .

With more than 30 years’ experience in food manufacturing, Stephen has joined Cert ID from NB Certification where he was Certification Manager for BRC schemes. Stephen’s experience with BRC auditing means he will be responsible for certification within the BRC GlobalFood Standard audits following the semi-retirement of Cert ID’s Chief Certification Officer, Mike Law.

Stephen will also be leading CertID’s training courses on key issues facing food manufacturers such as implementing the BRC standard, internal auditing and Practical HACCP.

Richard Werran, Managing Director of Cert ID Europe said:
“Stephen’s has many years practical industry experience in technical manager roles in dairy, ready meals and gateau manufacturing for retail and food service sectors. This means that he understands first-hand the pressures on food manufacturers in meeting the demands of the BRC audit. We are delighted he has joined the Cert ID Europe team.”

Food Safety Train Train Train

Why Businesses Will Require Food Safety Training Courses

For any business that is involved in the manufacturing, storing, preparing or delivery of food products it is essential that that correct protocol is followed and that the required standards are met in order to ensure that food and drinks are safe to be sold to consumers.  However it is not just those who are on the food production line that will require this kind of training.  Often other staff get overlooked when booking food safety training courses but this knowledge is as essential to them as it is to the rest of the workforce.

Engineering and maintenance staff, both internally within the company and externally, have a key role to play in the integrity of the product and throughout the course of the work they carry out could have a negative impact upon this product if they do not understand and appreciate the health and safety procedures that need to be followed.

Food safety training courses, much like internal audit training courses, can be booked with food safety and certification organisations to make sure that all staff who have a role to play in the food preparation process are equipped with the relevant knowledge and skills.  This may include plumbers and electricians, gas fitters, pest controllers, cleaners, engineers and third party maintenance staff.

The programme within these food safety training courses will cover areas such as the risks of cross contamination, personal hygiene, legal responsibilities and commissioning trials.  The various sections that make up this course will be tied in with the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety and anyone taking the course will be tested by written examination to make sure that they have taken on board the information learned throughout the course.

Whether it is internal audit training courses to enable businesses to internally audit their practices and procedures prior to food certification recommendation or training courses to help businesses ensure everyone involved in the food preparation process is fully trained in the necessary safety and hygiene practices, it is very important that these areas are addressed without delay.

Welcome to the world of food blogging!

Who said food manufacturing and the likes of the BRC couldn't be fun?
A technical team that isn't actually I.T technical is no more.

Recent findings prove the use of social media, networking and blogging are not only big in the food industry but are so in the food manufacturing side as well.

Arguably the tone of the BRC could use a bit of general fun and spontaneity, which Cert Bodies can defiantly bring to the table.

On the table we feel you can:
- Add a side of fun to your main of HACCP.
- Order with a sprinkle of casual tone.
- And lace your internal auditing cocktail schedule with a bit of general office banter.

Welcome to the world of Cert ID Europe's blog!
